Digital Storytellers: Empowering Youth Through Media Literacy and Transmedia
DIGI-Story is a European project that promotes media literacy and digital creativity among young people aged 15 to 30. In a hyperconnected society, everyone can create, share and transform information in seconds. However, we do not always have the tools to critically analyse what we see or publish.
The project promotes the ethical, safe and creative use of digital media, strengthening the role of young people as active agents in the online environment. We are committed to responsible, inclusive digital citizenship that is prepared for the challenges of disinformation and digital overexposure.
What is the origin of DIGI-Story?
More than 90% of young Europeans use the internet daily, and most consume information mainly through social media. Various European studies indicate that a significant proportion of young people have difficulty identifying fake news or manipulated content. In addition, intensive use of digital platforms can influence self-esteem, social perception and civic participation.
At the same time, young people do not just consume content: they constantly produce it. They publish videos, images, opinions and personal narratives that influence their community. Without adequate training in media literacy and responsible production, there is a risk of reproducing stereotypes, spreading misinformation or violating their own and others’ rights.
DIGI-Story was created to respond to this need: to equip young people with critical and creative skills that enable them to navigate the European digital ecosystem safely and responsibly.
